Appendix: Preface

SHOUTfest is a minor Christian music festival founded in 2001. It travels to around twenty different venues each year, attracting between three thousand and ten thousand people to each one. Because few mainstream concert halls will book Christian artists, scores of these festivals have sprung up over the years to showcase them. SHOUTfest is fairly typical of a mainstream, youth-oriented Christian rock/pop/hip hop festival.
